Ukraine Charge d'affaires expresses gratitude to Georgian authorities for support

Andrey Kasyanov, the Temporarily Representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia, on Friday expressed his gratitude to authorities of Georgia for their support on international forums and for assistance to Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war. 

Kasyanov said 20,723 Ukrainian citizens were in Georgia in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, adding the nationals who had entered the territory of Georgia recently and contacted the Embassy were mostly from Mariupol, the city in southeastern Ukraine under siege by Russian troops. 

The Embassy “actively cooperates” with international organisations, as well as with the structures of the Government of Georgia, the Ukrainian diplomat said.

Kasyanov added the Embassy staff had also arrived in the western Georgian city of Kutaisi on Sunday, and were expected to be also present in the Black Sea coastal city of Batumi, to support Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Georgia.

The Ukrainian diplomat acknowledged representatives of International organisations, Georgian citizens and companies continued to collect humanitarian aid for Ukraine amid the conflict.
