Georgian officials on Sunday condemned the “inhumanity” of Russian troops directed against civilians in the city of Bucha and other places in Ukraine, and extended condolences to Ukrainian people amid the reported atrocities.
President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili tweeted “Georgian past [with conflicts involving Russia] means that we know what Bucha represents-crime against humanity, wound that takes too long to heal” late on Sunday, as the information on the actions of the Russian troops was being released by international media.
It’s tough imagining a world where the #BuchaMassacre exists. But it’s here. We live in it

In reaction to the latest developments in Ukraine, Parliament Speaker Papuashvili tweeted he was “shocked” by the “horrible atrocities” in Bucha and other places in Ukraine, making references with the “brutal crimes against peaceful civilians” in the now-occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia in the early 1990s, and the Tskhinvali region during the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia.
Shocked by horrible atrocities in #Bucha and other places of #Ukraine. Reminded me of brutal crimes against peaceful civilians in Abkhazia in the early 1990s and Tskhinvali region in 2008. It must end, perpetrators must be brought to justice.
