A 44 year old man died in an accident at Rusalloys Metallurgical Plant in Rustavi yesterday.

Interpressnews agency reports that the employee fell into a water cooler tank. He was already dead when help arrived.

An investigation into the accident is being conducted under article 170, part 2 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which deals with violation of labour safety rules leading to loss of life.

UPDATE: Ninth body recovered from rubble of residential building in Batumi

A ninth body has been recovered from the rubble of a residential building in the Black Sea town of Batumi, Interior Minister Vakhatang Gomelauri has announced. He assumes there is no one else left in the rubble so that the rescue operation will come to an end.

A man has been rescued from the ruins of a multi-block residential building which has collapsed today around 12 p.m. in the Black Sea coastal city of Batumi. The man was taken to the hospital. Earlier a woman was also rescued, whose two children arestill missing.
