Police identified 9,144 victims of domestic violence and 8,716 abusers throughout Georgia in 2020, reports the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Geostat reports that 7,573 women and 1,571 men were victims of domestic violence across the country in 2020.
As for the abusers, 7,197 were men and 1,519 were women.
The highest number of victims of domestic violence was recorded in Tbilisi last year.

Police identified 4,203 victims of domestic violence and 3,958 abusers in Tbilisi. The victims of violence and the majority of perpetrators are of the 25-44 age category.
As for the regions of Georgia, last year the highest number of domestic violence (852) were recorded in the Adjara region, while the lowest number of the crimes (222) were recorded in southern Samtskhe-Javakheti region.
