From March 31 to May 23 (2020), due to the Covid-19 pandemic a curfew was in effect in Georgia and citizens were not allowed on the streets from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (except for individuals with special permits). Restrictions on movement were placed from November 9 in big cities from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., which was later changed and the movement was prohibited from 21:00 to 05:00 and the restrictions are currently in place in the country.

The Head of the Alliance for Safe Roads Eka Laliashvili says that the reduction in road accidents and the number of deaths and injuries is the result of the existing restrictions, though given the sharp decrease in mobility, the number of deaths and injuries should have been much more than it is now.

Laliashvili says the number of road accidents and the death rate is still high in Georgia.
