Firefighters mobilised in Kakheti region due to increased risk of forest, field fires

Firefighters have been mobilised in Georgia’s eastern region of Kakheti due to an increased risk of forest and field fires, reports the Emergency Management Service of Georgia (EMS).

Firefighters are patrolling villages to prevent possible outbreaks of fires on agricultural lands and to extinguish them in a timely manner”, says the EMS.

The Emergency Management Service urges the public to exercise caution during the harvesting process to avoid the risk of fire.

Several hectares of wheat crop was burnt as a result of fire in the Shiraki Valley in Dedospistskaro municipality on June 21.

A video of the field fire went viral on social media among Georgian users yesterday.

The author of the video says that the fire was caused by negligence of people.

The National Environment Agency reports air temperature may exceed 38 degrees from June 24 to July 1 in eastern Georgia.
