Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has discussed the Covid-19 situation in Georgia and worldwide, as well as its impact on the economy, including tourism recovery and restoration of international flights during an outdoor gathering today.

Accompanied by other members of his cabinet, Garibashvili has also informed the foreign dignitaries about the ongoing preparations for the tourist season.

During the gathering the Georgian and foreign officials have also spoken about the vaccination process and the situation concerning the vaccine supplies globally.

After more than a year-long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic Georgia has today opened its land borders. Individuals are admitted through the land borders of Georgia with evidence of full vaccination and negative PCR test results or alternatively only with a negative PCR test result taken within the last 72 hours. A follow up test three days after entry must also be taken.
Georgia is participating in FITUR, Madrid International Tourism Fair, in the status of a partner country on May 19-23, where the country is carrying out a marketing campaign and showcase its tourism potential through banners, videos, presentations and information channels.
Georgia has been elected to the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for four years, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia. The election was held today at the 66th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe in Athens, Greece.
Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili has been re-elected Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) with 85 votes in favour, 26 against, for a second term from 2022 to 2025.
