Mineral water company Borjomi has announced it is ready to meet the demands of about 350 workers of bottling factories in the centre of the country who went on strike on May 18 and increase their salaries, however due to the 'destructive actions' of the organiser of the strike, the trade union, 'it is impossible to negotiate directly with the workers', says the company.
Borjomi mineral water company explained that the company had made a decision to temporarily suspend the operations of its two bottling factories to avoid the 'illegal activities that took place at the rally and endangered the health and safety' of locals.
Illegal roadblocks were set up and organised by Giorgi Diasamidze, Chairman of the Trade Union of Agriculture, Trade and Industry. We believe that Diasamidze acts only out of personal interests and does not care about the health and safety of our employees, which is why we believe that his participation will prevent the successful completion of the [negotiation] process", reads the statement of the company.
