About 350 workers of bottling factories at the Borjomi mineral water plant in central Georgia have gone on strike, demanding higher salaries and better working conditions, announces the Youth Movement of Trade Union.

The protesters claim that their salaries were reduced by 200-250 GEL in the past year.

Further, they could not take a break due to lack of staff and were paid only a small amount for overtime work.

The Youth Movement of Trade Union also said that the strikers have been negotiating with the management of the plant for several months already.

Also, there was a 21-day mediation between the company and employees which ended without an agreement. After this the employees went on a legal strike", said the union.

The operation of both factories were stopped as a result of the strike.
