Kashia has become the first-ever recipient of the UEFA #EqualGame Award for his support of the LGBT community during his time with the Dutch club side SBV Vitesse back in 2018.
However, wearing the rainbow-coloured armband to show his support of diversity and inclusion has been denounced in his homeland - Georgia - where he faced negative comments from ultra-nationalist groups.
Watch Kashia sharing his experiences in the documentary from 10:30 to 13:18.
In the documentary Kashia speaks of the 'taught time’ he has experienced and suggests the ways to help eradicate discrimination.
I didn’t expect that much hate... This kind of things will impact the person and it hurts sometimes… I can only imagine how tough it is when you are bullied like that. It hearts for sure, because I experienced myself, too, and it hurts”, Guram Kashia says in the documentary.
