Number of cigarette smokers down from 31% to 28% in the last 4 years

The number of adults who smoke cigarettes in Georgia hsa decreased from 31 to 28.2 per cent in Georgia in the last four years, reports the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC also reports that the number of smokers among 16-year old adolescents decreased from 18 to 12 per cent in the last four years.

The NCDC’S survey titled Public Support for Banning Smoking in Taxis (2020) shows that 86 per cent of the population is in favour of banning tobacco consumption in taxis.

The Majority of survey participants (83.4) say that they always obtain permission from a taxi driver to smoke a cigarette, while 12.6 per cent say they usually do not ask permission before smoking.

The survey shows that the number of boys who smoke cigarettes is more than twice as high (17%) than the number of girls (7%).
