Georgia's Saknakhshiri coal mining company has suspended its activities for two weeks due to the infection rate of its employees with Covid-19, announces the company.

Due to the severe epidemiological situation in Georgia, Saknakhshiri consistently conducts employee testing and actively carries out disinfection works. On November 13 all employees of our company (1,170 individuals) took aPCR test. So far the test results of 1,114 employees are known, of which 144 are positive", reads the statement.
Now the employees of Saknakhshiri are in self-isolation.
After two weeks all of them will take a PCR test to make sure they are not infected with Covid-19 anymore.
The Head of Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze has tested positive for coronavirus.
Georgia has had 85,952 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.Since then 68,929 individuals have recovered, while 778 others have died.
Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that the government is likely to impose further restrictions to curb the increase in new infections of coronavirus, adding that there are no plans to declare a complete lockdown. Gamkrelidze stated earlier today that the government is expected to inform the public about new restrictions in the coming days. He stated that along with new restrictions the enforcement of existing ones ‘is of high importance.’
Recoveries have outnumbered new cases of coronavirus in Georgia in the past two days. The country has reported 3,157 new cases of coronavirus, 3,230 recoveries and 30 deaths in the past 24 hours. 16,785 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today. Georgia has had 82,835 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.Since then 65,291 individuals have recovered, while 733 others have died.

Nine miners in Georgia’s western Tkibuli municipality are on strike in a mine refusing to come out, protesting against receiving the halved salaries in January. Tamaz Dolaberidze of the Georgian Trade Unions Confederation said that due to less coal mining activity than planned in January, the miners were paid less by Saknakhshiri coal mining company.
