Police arrest Kazakh citizen for drug production, distribution, seize 1.2 mln GEL in illicit narcotics

The Central Criminal Police Department has identified a group of drug dealers selling narcotics online and arrested one Kazakh citizen identified as A.A.
The detainee belonged to a group of drug dealers who sold drugs on the internet and made the drug mephedrone.
A.A. in his temporary home used a laboratory inventory of various chemicals to produce the drug mephedrone and then sell it online,” says the announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Police have seized 2.3 kilograms of mephedrone while searching the home of the detainee. The cost of the confiscated drugs would be about 1.2 mln GEL on the black market.
The crime is punishable from six to 11 years in prison.
Georgian police officers have detained one individual for drug offences in the west Georgian town of Poti today.
Police have detained nine drug dealers in the Ponichala district in Tbilisi. If convicted, the detainees face eight to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The Georgian Justice Ministry has opened the first ever Drug Situation Monitoring National Centre in Tbilisi which will have to respond to drug-related challenges in the country. The ministry says that to open the centre they have been “closely cooperating” with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) over the past five years.
Georgian law enforcers have detained two individuals for the purchase, possession and sale of drugs. 4,200 pills of MDMA and other types of drugs, including hashish, cocaine and marijuana have been confiscated from the apartments of the detainees in Tbilisi.
Georgian law enforcers have detained an Iranian citizen, identified only as M.D., for the purchase, possession and sale of drugs. Police found that the Iranian citizen, who resided in Tbilisi, sold drugs on a regular basis.
