The twelfth battalion of the first Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defence Forces has completed its mission in Nato’s Resolute Support Mission and returned from Afghanistan to Georgia.

The task of the battalion was to ensure security at Bagram Airfield.

The first hundred soldiers have already returned under the command of Vice-Colonel Giorgi Jincharadze, while other members of the battalion will return gradually.

The peacekeepers will be placed under quarantine for two weeks after their return to the country in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization to avoid the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
