Polish President Andrzej Duda, the first foreign leader to visit US President Donald Trump since the coronavirus pandemic caused global lockdowns, has mentioned Russia’s occupation of Georgian and Ukrainian territories during their joint press conference.

Duda said that in 2014 Russia attacked Ukraine and occupied its territories.

Before that Russia attacked Georgia,” Duda said.

Trump and Duda said that they look forward to signing a defence cooperation agreement.

The agreement will send more US troops to Poland, boosting defence cooperation between the US and Poland and acting as a further counterweight against Russian aggression.

I think it sends a strong message to Russia," Trump stated.

Trump also criticised other European countries for buying Russian energy.
