Georgia reports 8 new cases of coronavirus, municipal transport resumes

Georgia has reported eight new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 746.
Six of the eight new patients were under quarantine, while two others are from Bolnisi municipality (which remains under strict lockdown).
576 of the 746 patients have recovered, while 12 others have died.
As of today, 158 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia.

All municipal transport systems – busses, metro, marshrutkas and cableways – have resumed today.
Passengers must wear face masks while using the municipal transport.
Air conditioning will be switched off in buses and marshrutkas and vehicles will move with the windows down.

The front door in buses will remain closed to avoid contact between drivers and passengers.
Only sitting passengers will be permitted in marshutkas.
Employees of city halls and the patrol police will stand at bus stops to monitor the number of passengers on public transport.
Tbilisi City Hall said that if there is a need additional restrictions will be imposed.
How does the gov’t plan to support the construction sector?
The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia has presented a fourth anti-crisis plan today worth 434 million GEL aimed at supporting the construction and development sector of Georgia. He said that the construction and development sector was one of the fastest growing sectors which employed 120,000 people in 2019.
Georgia needs industrialisation of agricultural sector and increased productivity, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said earlier today at a presentation of the government’s agricultural anti-crisis plan.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced today that 42,000 farmers will be exempt from paying irrigation taxes in 2020.
Farmers which have land plots between 0.25 to 10 hectares will receive 200 GEL for each hectare, said Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili earlier today.
After reopening, restaurants must abide by the recommendations of the Health Ministry that tables not stand less than two meters apart in closed area restaurants. Moreover, there should not be more than six persons at a table with no less than one meter distance between them.
Once they reopen, shopping malls in Georgia will have to abide by recommendations of the Health Ministry in the use of heat screening thermometers to check the temperature of clients and personnel before they let them enter.
Georgia confirmed 11 new cases of the coronavirus and 24 recoveries over the last 24 hours. As of May 30, the country has a total of 757 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 600 recoveries and 12 deaths. The number of infected individuals stands at 145.
Georgia has reported four new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,010. 885 of the 1,010 patients have recovered, while 15 others have died. Eight of the 28 Georgian soldiers who tested positive for the coronavirus in Afghanistan on July 10 have recovered.
