The descendants of Georgia’s Bagrationi royal family are involved in a court dispute as Ana Bagration-Gruzinsky accuses her former husband, Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli, of domestic violence when they lived together.

The couple got married in 2009 on the initiative of Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II, but they divorced in 2012.

Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli’s lawyer Levan Chkheidze says the accusation is defamation and a lie.

Levan Chkheidze states that Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli committed no violence against Ana Bagration-Gruzinsky and that he ‘has nothing to prove’ before the court.

Her lawyer says that Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli did not allow her wife to leave the house for two days in May 2014, and the violence took place in the presence of their underage son Giorgi.

Earlier in March, Ana Bagration-Gruzinsky’s family presented a lawsuit against Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli. They claimed Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli was using the royal name without permission and asked the court to ban him from using it.
