Twenty individuals were admitted to the Tbilisi Burn Centre during the New Year holidays because of injuries received from the use of fireworks, head of the centre Guga Kashibadze told the media.
Ten were adults and ten were minors. Fortunately, no grave cases have been reported. Most of the individuals who came in suffered from burns on their right hands. Two were foreign nationals,” Kashibadze said.
Last year Georgia prohibited the sale of fireworks to minors
In January 2018, 44 individuals were hospitalised due to injuries received from the use of fireworks. 24 out of the 44 were minors.
In 2017 the figure was 54.
