Rare giant tortoise found in Georgia’s seaside town of Poti

A rare, giant tortoise swam into the Black Sea from the Mediterranean in Georgia’s seaside town of Poti.

Known asCaretta Caretta“ the turtle usually lives in the Mediterranean and can weigh up to 140 kg.

Georgia’s National Environmental Agency said the tortoise needed special care and was thus taken to the aquarium located at the Paragraph Resort & Spa Shekvetili hotel.

After the full recovery the tortoise will be returned to its natural habitat.
