Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius says that the death of Georgian citizen, 29-year-old Irakli Kvaratskhelia in unclear circumstances in Georgia’s occupied region of Abkhazia on March 10 should be promptly investigated.
The death should be thoroughly, transparently and promptly investigated,” Linkevicius told the media before the beginning of the EU foreign ministerial in Brussels earlier today.

He stated that the death is evidence that “what is happening [in the Georgian occupied regions] is unacceptable.”
The de facto authorities of Abkhazia claim that Kvaratskhelia committed suicide, an account which causes doubts in official Tbilisi.
An autopsy has already been carried out on the body, however an official conclusion has not been made so far.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry has called the incident “alarming” and vowed that the state will react should the autopsy reveal a different reason for his death.
Kvaratskhelia was buried yesterday in Senaki, western Georgia.
