Georgian PM: Georgia will be able to meet its EU integration commitments much earlier

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze says that Georgia will be able to meet its European Union integration commitments earlier than planned.

Bakhtadze stated that significant reforms were carried out and the quality of relationship and integration with the EU ‘has never been so high.’

PM Bakhtadze made these statements at the joint session with government commission for EU integration and state commission of NATO integration.

He said Georgia successfully implements commitments before the EU.

Information on the fifth session of Georgia-EU Association Council was announced and it was added the Georgian side planning to introduce ‘’The EU-Integration Map’’.

[The document] will enable us to consolidate the progress we have achieved in terms of European integration and take further steps beyond the Association Agreement to provide deeper, more comprehensive and sector integration with the EU,” Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

He also stated the visa-free travel with the EU functions smoothly.

The smooth functioning is one of the most important priorities for our government as bears significant political importance as well as practical benefit,” Prime Minister Bakhtadze said.

The national annual programme (ANP) of Georgia was also approved on the joint session which represents one of the most important NATO-integration mechanisms.

Georgia’s progress on the NATO integration path was also stressed.

Mamuka Bakhtadze stated Georgia is a special and reliable partner of NATO.

This year we will host NATO Secretary General, Military Committee, and North-Atlantic Council that is special honor and responsibility for us. All this stresses again that Georgia-NATO relations have transferred on a new level,” Bakhtadze stated.

DCFTA implementation 2019 national action plan was adopted at the session and upcoming ceremonies to celebrate Eastern Partnership 10 year jubilee were discussed.
