US Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who came to Georgia late yesterday to attend the Georgia Defence and Security Conference (GDSC), says that the US Democrats and Republicans have disagreements on various issues but when it concerns Georgia, “we are unanimous.”

He spoke about the security challenges coming from Russia during the conference, stating that the US is trying to help the European states “defeat the Russian energy blackmail.”

I reaffirm the US strong support for Georgia, for our partner,” Kinzinger said.

He stated that Georgia deserves to become a full member of NATO.

Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Elisabeth Rood stated during the conference that “Georgia has an ambitious programme to modernize its defence and security fields and the US continues to support the country.”

The US continues to support Georgia to carry out its Defence Readiness Programme. The US is also involved in military exercises like Noble Partner and Agile Spirit,” Rood said.

The conference will end tomorrow.
