Former Georgian environment official charged with official misconduct

The crime is punishable by three years in prison.

The Georgian State Security Service has charged former head of the Environment Patrol and Rapid Response Unit of Guria in western Georgia, Guram A, with official misconduct.

An investigation has revealed that in January 2018, Guram A., while in office, failed to report the illegal actions of two companies illegally extracting construction materials from the Natanebi riverbed in the Ozurgeti municipality of the Guria region.

In March and July 2018, the State Security Service detained five and charged three employees of the Environment Patrol and Rapid Response Unit of Guria for the same case.
