Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi hosted the Georgia-Cyprus business forum today, where the presidents of both countries and 120 companies participated.
The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades said at the forum that visa-free trade, a deep and comprehensive trade agreement promotes economic integration, people-to-people relations, relationship between the EU and Georgia, which eventually brings the two countries closer to each other.
Anastasiades said that there are chances of deepening business relations between Georgia and Cyprus, so both countries must do their best to use these opportunities.
There is a very long relationship between Georgia and Cyprus and I want to tell you that we have great historical, political, cultural and religious ties. Of course, these ties have deepened over the centuries. We have been taking care and respecting this relationship and we hope that it will be further deepened”, he said.

Anastasiades said that such forums and meetings will allow Georgia and Cyprus to develop economic cooperation.
Such meetings reveal new opportunities, new markets for our businesses. We can think of new and substantial investments in the fields of telecommunications, tourism, bank sector, etc. The favorable situation allows us to use the Anglo-Saxon certain heritage. Besides, the geographical position allows us to access not only European, but also North African markets, as well as the markets of the Middle East and Asia”, Anastasiades said at the forum.
Meanwhile, Zurabishvili said that Cyprus was in the list of top 10 investor countries in Georgia and expressed hope that this interest will be widened.

We should take care of export growth to Cyprus. There are number of quality Georgian products which export to Cyprus would be beneficial for both countries”, said Zurabishvili.
Zurabishvili said that the two countries could better use Black Sea for further developing trade as well as tourism ties.
