Notre Dame, one of the most distinguished landmarks of France, has been on fire for several hours on.
More than 400 firefighters are at the scene but they are not sure to manage to put up the major fire on the 850-year-old Gothic building.
The cause needs to be clarified.

Officials say that renovation works might have caused the disaster.
Last year, the Catholic Church in France appealed for funds to save the building, which was crumbling, the international media reports.
France did not use helicopters to put up the fire, as they believed this would have led to the collapse of the building.
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze twitted:

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who was born in France, twitted:

BBC reports that the main spire of the Gothic cathedral, dating back to the 12th Century, collapsed as flames burst through the roof.
President Macron canceled major TV address to go to the scene and meet senior officers.
