Former Georgian Ambassador to Austria posthumously receives Austrian national award

The late Georgian Ambassador to Austria, Konstantine Zaldastanishvili, was posthumously awarded with Austria’s Decoration of Honour for his services to Austria and his contribution in deepening relations between Georgia and Austria.

The Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold with Sash is Austria's highest national honour given to foreigners in exceptional cases.

Introducing the award, Austrian Ambassador to Georgia Arad Benkö and Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani spoke of the high level of professionalism of Zaldastanishvili and his tremendous contribution to the development of Georgian diplomacy and the relations between Georgia and Austria.

Born on December 23, 1960, Zaldastanishvili was Georgia’s ambassador to Austria from 2013 up until December 2017.
