The Court of Appeals of Tbilisi left the Rustavi City Court’s decision on reinstating 56 employees of the Rustavi Azot chemical plant unchanged, reports Radio Liberty.

In April this year Rustavi City Court ruled that 56 employees of the Rustavi Azot chemical plant should be reinstated and that the company should pay their outstanding salaries of more than a year.

About 300 workers of Azot were illegally dismissed at the beginning of 2017 during a change of company ownership.

The workers who did not receive renewed contracts started demonstrations after which 279 people agreed to receive compensation from the company and stop the protest. However, 56 workers decided to seek justice through the judiciary process and they won the case at Rustavi City Court.

But the management protested against the verdict of Rustavi City Court at the Court of Appeals of Tbilisi and today they lost the case at Tbilisi Court of Appeals as well.
