The Georgian embassy in Israel has addressed Georgian citizens living in the country amid current tension between Israel and Palestine.

A special statement released today particularly concerns people who live in the Southern part of Israel and in settlements near the Gaza strip.

The embassy appeals to Georgians to act based on the indications of the emergency service of Israel, local municipality heads or law enforcers, and use the hotline at the embassy if needed: +9723609-3206, +972526919092.

Israel fighter jets have hit Palestinian militant targets overnight in Gaza after militants fired 370 rockets at Israel.

Both Israel and Hamas, which rules the Gaza strip, have threatened to escalate their actions, the BBC reports.

Violence erupted when a covert Israeli mission was exposed in Gaza on Sunday.

Seven Palestinian militants, including a Hamas military commander, were killed during the incident, including a member of the Israeli undercover unit, the BBC says.
