Police detain 3 Turkish citizens as suspects in explosion that kills 6-year-old

The child was playing in his own yard when a stone launched by the explosion struck him.

The Georgian Interior Ministry has detained three Turkish nationals as suspects in an explosion that killed a six-year-old child who was struck debris.

The explosion took place in a stone quarry in the village of Tchikadzeebi of Keda region in western Georgia.

Police says that the employees of sub-contractor l.t.d  Albairak and Dinamiti L.D. of the l.t.d Struik Group Georgia, were conducting illegal expositions with violation of safety norms, which claimed the life of the child.

The Georgian Professional Union says that the child was killed in a 100-meter radius of the blast, while houses were damaged in the 300-meter radius.

The union says that company negligence and the absence of a state agency controlling work safety resulted in the tragedy.
