The Georgia Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has launched a platform offering a wide range of information about environmental topics.

The presentation of the new platform was held in Tbilisi Botanical Garden on 25 September.

The goal of the project is to make easily available and convey information and updates pertaining to environmental policy, news and statistics.

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili believes that the new electronic platform will contribute to environmental protection, as it will aid in the improvement of monitoring policy impact on the environment.

Another goal of the project is to supply national environmental bodies with information and innovative approaches to policy making and programme implementation in order to fulfill the Rio Conventions.

The Rio Conventions are international agreements which aim to conserve the earth’s biodiversity, stop global warming and deal with drought. In accordance with the Georgia-EU Association Agreement, Georgia is obliged to implement the requirements of the conventions.
