European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has positively assessed progress made by Georgia on its way towards EU integration at a meeting with the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze in New York today.
The parties met on the sidelines of the 73rd session of UN General Assembly.
Jean-Claude Juncker has also positively assessed the democratic, economic and political reforms Georgia is carrying out currently.
Mamuka Bakhtadze and Jean-Claude Juncker have also discussed the upcoming first meeting of the new format of the dialogue between EU and Georgia. The meeting will be held in Brussels headed by the PM Bakhtadze and Juncker.
One more important issue which the two leaders have discussed at today’s meeting was the situation in the Russian occupied Georgian territories. Jean-Claude Juncker praised the Georgian government’s initiative “A Step Towards a Better Future” and once again reaffirmed the EU’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
