International expert for counter-terrorism, security and crisis management, Vice Colonel Giorgi Kakichashvili has been appointed as the new head of the Interior Ministry Special Tasks’ Department.
Between 2015 and 2018 Kakichashvili had served as the head of the Mtskheta Mtianeti regional office of Georgia’s State Security Service.
Before taking the position, in 2014-2015, he headed the analytical department of the Counter-Terrorism Centre of Georgia’s State Security Service.
In 2010-2013 Kakichashvili served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the head of the snipers’ department.
In 2000-2010 he chaired the department in the Ministry of Internal Affairs that was responsible for security of strategic buildings and top state figures.
In 2006 Kakichashvili graduated from Georgia’s Law-Psychological Institute with the Master’s Degree in law. In 2005 he completed his classes at Georgia’s Interior Ministry Academy.
Since 2016 Kakichashvili is a doctoral student of international relations at the Caucasus University State Management School.
