The Government of Georgia is striving to turn the country’s iconic Racha region into a four-season destination by improving infrastructure and supporting local businesses in the region.
"Our aim is to turn Racha into a four season destination”, stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze when visiting Ambrolauri in Georgia’s Racha region to celebrate the Day of Base yesterday.
Bakhtadze went to the entrepreneurial market organised at the event, which offered various products made within the state programme ‘Produce in Georgia’.
"It brings us great joy that these programmes resulted in an excellent outcome in Ambrolauri. I wish to single out Produce in Georgia and Guesthouse Development.
“Our goal should be to at least triple the number of tourists and visitors in this region of the country. Hence, more guarantees need to be issued to better promote guesthouses.
“You may well be aware that we have commissioned an airport here. At the same time, 21 infrastructure projects are being implemented, out of which 18 are close to their completion. It is essential to gear momentum in the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads. Particularly noteworthy years in this regard will be 2019 and 2020. We are engaged in the development of sports infrastructure. Several stadiums are being built in Ambrolauri. Such projects will enable us to turn Ambrolauri and Racha into a four season destination.
“It is only about 10-15 per cent of the full potential of this beautiful region. The next stage will of course involve the rehabilitation and development of very important tourism sites in Shovi and other destinations" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
