A fire has broken out in the forest of Chailuri in Kakheti region in eastern Georgia earlier today, which according to the Georgia’s Interior Ministry’s Emergency Service has been localised.

Fire-fighters who immediately went to deal with the fire have made sure to prevent the further escalation.

An unusually high number of wildfires occurred in Georgian forests this summer. The largest one was in Borjomi Gorge that burnt for seven days before being put out in late August.

An investigation is underway to find out the causes of frequent forest fires in Georgia this year.
