Georgia’s Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Accommodation and Refugees has made a decision to buy flats for internally displaced families who live in wrecked or buildings of strategic importance.

The Ministry is now holding negotiations with about 40 construction companies within the framework of the project.

The Ministry plans to purchase flats in already completed buildings or in the blocks of flat which are being constructed.

At this stage the Ministry will purchase the number of flats which is necessary on the one hand to ensure the safety of IDPs now living in wrecked accommodations and on the other hand to empty strategic buildings which are housing IDPs now,” Deputy Refugee Minister Grigol Giorgadze stated.

Giorgadze also said the Ministry will soon produce a program for large-scale constructions for IDPs around Georgia.
