Internationally celebrated Georgian pianist Elisso Bolkvadze will hold her first-ever performance in Denmark later this year, appearing at a concert hall that has hosted grand occasions for the European Union and the Danish royal court.
Georgia’s embassy in Copenhagen announced earlier today Bolkvadze would appear at the DR Koncerthuset venue in the capital city in October.
The performance will be part of celebrations of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The UNESCO Artist for Peace will go on stage to perform works by Frederic Chopin, Franz Schubert, Michel Sogny, Claude Debussy and Sergei Prokofiev at the event.
Titled Music for Peace, the concert will be held at the hall that has hosted the ceremonial handover of the EU presidency as well as 40th birthday of the Queen of Denmark.
The 1,800-capacity venue will welcome Bolkvadze on October 5.
The award-winning pianist has performed at venues including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Kennedy Centre in Washington and Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris.
Beside prizes for her musical career she has been awarded cultural awards including the Order of Arts and Literature, a top French state prize.
Earlier this year, Bolkvadze played at an annual event paying homage to late United Nations diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello in Geneva, Switzerland.
