Barley crop in eastern Georgia ready for harvest

Barley produced in Georgia’s eastern region of Kakheti is ready to be harvested.

Five fully equipped brand-new combines of the state-owned firm Mekanizatori Ltd have already harvested 30 hectares of agricultural land.

Georgian Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili went to Kakheti yesterday to meet with farmers.

We will assist the local population to easily harvest their crops so that they could preserve them properly”, Minister Davitashvili said.

Mekaniizatori will further harvest crops on 30,000-50,000ha in the region of Kakheti as a whole.

To ensure this, 74 combine-harvesters have been mobilised in the region, including 45 in Gurjaani service center and 29 in Dedoplistskaro.
