Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Health Minister David Sergeenko opened a top of the line, multi-profile clinic in Tbilisi today, named after famous Georgian academician Vakhtang Bochorishvili.

The Georgian company Aversi Pharma invested about 15 million GEL (6.2 million USD), with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to renovate the clinic, which is equipped with the most modern medical equipment.

The former Sepsis Centre founded in 1979 went under the control of Aversi on February 1, 2014. The building was outdated and required fundamental reconstruction work.

While opening the facility Kvirikashvili spoke of Vakhtang Bochorishvili, who died in 2002 at the age of 78.

Kvirikashvili stated he personally knew the medic and described him as a "wise and a very talented man with good sense of humor and particular love to people.”

I believe that the state-private sector partnership for the development of the country’s healthcare system is very important. This is the model of partnership which provides guaranteed healthcare from the state to each citizen of Georgia,” Kvirikashvili said.

Kvirikashvili also spoke with the staff of the Infectious Disease, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Center, who were protesting against poor working conditions on the territory of the newly opened clinic; they were demanding a new building and improved working conditions.

The PM asked several people from the protesters to meet him today in order to find a solution for the problem.

Kvirikashvili vowed the state would do its utmost to meet the interests of each professional and ensure their talent and skills to be used in the service of the country.
