Third party 0.01% away from threshold for entering Parliament

Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has counted 99.41 percent of all votes countrywide.
Latest preliminary results showed two leading parties - Georgian Dream and United National Movement (UNM), but a third party at this stage is only 0.01% away from overcoming the five percent threshold for entering Parliament.
As of 6.50pm today, October 9, preliminary results for Georgia's Parliamentary Elections 2016 are:
- Georgian Dream – 48.61%
- United National Movement – 27.04%
- Alliance of Patriots – 4.99%
These three parties are followed by:
- Free Democrats – 4.59%
- Nino Burjanadze – Democratic Movement – 3.55%
- Paata Burchuladze – State for People – 3.45%
- Labour Party – 3.12%
All other parties gained less than 2% votes.
Yesterday Georgian citizens voted to elect the 150-seat Parliament of Georgia, 77 members through party lists and 73 in the majoritarian districts.
"Every second person voted for Georgian Dream and our governance will continue ruling the country with high legitimacy," says Irakli Kobakhidze, Executive Secretary of Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party.
Following a vibrant and competitive campaign, citizens of Georgia were able to cast their votes freely and, in most places, vote counting happened in a calm and orderly manner, says a leading international observer mission.
‘standard-bearer for democracy in the region’
Different newspapers and media agencies are covering Georgia's elections and giving the general overview of the whole electoral process and post-election period.
The October 8 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia were competitive, well-administered and fundamental freedoms were generally respected, says the OSCE election observer mission.
International Republican Institute (IRI) says yesterday's Parliamentary Elections in Georgia was carried out in peaceful environment and reflected the will of the Georgian voters.
"We believe the results of the elections are falsified,” says leader of opposition party United National Movement (UNM) Nika Melia.

The third party, the Alliance of Patriots, has overcome the 5% threshold for entering the ninth Parliament of Georgia, latest preliminary results show. The Alliance of Patriots party currently has 5.00323% of total votes.
