"I congratulate all our citizens with this truly milestone achievement.”
With these and other words Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili congratulated the people of Georgia for "another significant success and international recognition” in the country’s efforts to gain visa liberalisation with the European Union (EU).
Today in Brussels, Belgium the Council of Europe agreed it was time to begin negotiating with European Parliament about the right to grant Georgian citizens a visa waiver and allow Georgian citizens to travel to the EU’s Schengen Zone without a visa.
Support of EU member states and various institutions towards Georgia is acknowledgement of the clear European aspirations of our people and reforms implemented by our country,” said Kvirikashvili today.
PM Kvirikashvili shared this positive news with his followers on his official Twitter account:

Georgia’s top official thanked the country’s international partners for their efforts and support of Georgia’s visa liberalisation.
I wish to express my enormous gratitude to our international partners and friends of our country who invested much time and effort in the due recognition of the progress achieved by Georgia.
I also want to convey my gratitude to the public institutions and civil servants that have been doing their very best in advancing Georgia’s visa liberalisation with EU in recent years,” he said.
PM Kvirikashvili thanked EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn and the Vice President of the European People's Party Group Mariya Gabriel for supporting Georgia via his official Twitter account:

Having the Council of Europe voice strong support Georgia’s visa liberalisation three days out from the Parliamentary Elections was hugely important, said Kvirikashvili.
He said this was proof the EU had high regards for the reforms and progress made in recent months and years.
On this note, Kvirikashvili stressed Georgia’s European future was irreversible.
It is crystal clear that irrespective of many attempts of destructive actions, nothing and nobody can jeopardise the development and inevitable success of our country in pursuing both foreign and domestic policies,” he added.
