What does seven months of stargazing in Georgia look like when edited into a short, creative video?

A YouTube clip named Timelapse in Georgia has gone viral since being released on Wednesday by the Geo-Astro community of astrophotography and visual astronomy enthusiasts.

Four thousand frames of recordings captured at 10 different locations in Georgia were condensed into a video just under two minutes long.

See the time-lapse video below:

The result is breathtaking – from sunsets to unique cloud formations, comets, satellites and of course the milky way.

It’s been 24 hours since the clip was released online and already it has been viewed more than 8,000 times and received many comments of praise.

The Geo-Astro community said the raw footage was recorded over a seven month period.

The edited clip was created by Dimitri Goderdzishvili and shows some of Georgia’s most well-known sights including the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory in southwest Georgia.

Other places in the video show the night time sky over the peaks of the Greater Caucasus mountain range.

The Geo-Astro regularly organised public discussions on the importance of photographic art to raise awareness of the visual universe and promote photography of the field.
