Outgoing president of the Georgian Rugby Union Giorgi Nizharadze has been selected to serve as a member of a new disciplinary commission of the world rugby governing body.
Nizharadze will work in the six-person World Rugby Commission alongside famous former players and current heads of national rugby federations.
The Commission will be headed by United States Rugby chairman Bob Latham and include legends of the sport like Argentinian player Agustin Pichot and New Zealand's former two-time World Cup winner Conrad Smith.
The newly established body will review disciplinary matters of the 2015 Rugby World Cup to identify efficient measures in the tournament's organisation as well as areas for future improvement.
The Commission will also be tasked with being involved in future disciplinary matters in World Rugby competitions. The group is scheduled to hold its first meetings in February.
Nizharadze oversaw the development of rugby in Georgia for the last eight years. He will be succeeded in his presidency of the Georgian Rugby Union following elections for the position on January 24.
Rugby Union Board chairman Gocha Svanidze and former Georgian national team captain Ilia Zedginidze are the only two candidates running in the election.
