A new Customs Clearance Centre has opened in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana that’s based on Georgian example and experience.

Kazakhstan launched a program that aims to create customs clearance zones in the country following Georgia’s experience,” said deputy chairman of Kazakhstan’s Revenue Service Committee Gosman Amrin while presenting the new program, named Astana 1.

The Astana 1 program will be "almost the same” as Georgia’s custom declaration program, which was implemented within Georgia’s customs system.

Deputy head of Georgia’s Revenue Service Vakhtang Lashkaridze said the Kazakh program was modelled on Georgia’s customs program to improve its transparency and effectiveness.

The program will be successful in Kazakhstan as it is in Georgia” said Lashkaridze.

He said it was important that Kazakhstan was launching a transparent, flexible and customer-oriented system and it was pleasing the country was following Georgia’s experience while implementing its own program.

Through the Astana 1 program, new Customs Clearance Centres will open in other cities in Kazakhstan including Almaty, Shymkent, Pavlodar, Aktau and Karaganda.
