One of the developers of Skype visits Georgia

While in Georgia, Villig will share his entrepreneurial experience with Georgian young leaders.

A young Estonian man who helped develop one of the world’s most popular online communication services is coming to Georgia to share his entrepreneurial experience with young Georgian leaders.

Martin Villig, a young entrepreneur and one of the developers of Skype, is due to visit Georgia’s capital Tbilisi tomorrow, April 23, where he will host a master classes for budding Georgian entrepreneurs.

Villig is a member of Skype Mafia – the group that developed Skype- and is also a co-founder of another Estonian innovation technology company Taxify, which is regarded as one of the fastest growing taxi booking applications in Eastern and Central Europe.

In Georgia, Taxify was officially established in September 2014 and almost immediately it gained popularity and was liked by the Georgian public. Last year Taxify was awarded the "People’s choice product of the year” at the Business Awards Event, organised by British company BOC Global Events Group.

In Georgia Villig will be hosted by the Georgian representation of Taxify. During his visit, the Estonian will meet with representatives of the Estonian Embassy in Georgia, with non-governmental organisation Alliance for Safe Roads Georgia and a selection of successful Georgian companies.

On April 24, two master classes will be held for students interested in Startup Developments in University of Georgia (Startup Nest) and Ilia Business School (Business Incubator).

Villig, having more than 15 years’ experience in the software development industry (from web design projects to business critical self-service portals and payments systems) strived to contribute his knowledge and expertise to expand Taxify throughout the world.

Taxify offers an effective dispatch platform and mobile app for taxi companies. The company was named as the overall winner of a competition for the best mobile application by the Estonian Information System Authority.

Not long after its launch, Taxify became an internationally recognised brand and was now successfully operating in cities throughout Europe and the United States.
