A delegation of Georgian Parliamentary officials, led Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili, is heading to Montenegro today for a two-day official visit.

A meeting has been scheduled with Usupashvili’s Montenegrin counterpart Ranko Krivokapic, which will be followed by a joint press conference.

On April 23, the delegation will hold meetings with the country’s Prime Minister, and the Minister of Interior Affairs and EU Integration of Montenegro.

In addition, the Georgian side will visit the ancient royal capital and various cultural places in Podgorica, Montenegro.

"We, somehow, are in simultaneous regimes in terms of NATO integration. First of all, we will discuss this topic at the meetings,” Usupashvili said today when talking about the trip.

"The pace toward NATO integration may be different for us but it is important to continue the NATO enlargement policy. Therefore, the progress made by Montenegro towards NATO is very important for Georgia, to prevent the often-heard sentiments that NATO enlargement might not being the right step. Another topic will be European and EU relations,” he said today.

The Georgian delegation heading to Montenegro will consist of Usupashvili, head of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Tedo Japaridze and Parliament Member from the Georgian Dream Coalition Fridon Sakvarelidze.
