Georgian martial art will be promoted at a historical festival in Rome.

Rome, one of Europe’s ancient cities, will host Georgian warriors at the international festival dedicated to the foundation of the capital city of Italy.

Guests of the festival will have a chance to learn about different aspects of Georgian culture including the history of Georgian fighting traditions, Georgian historical fighting weapons, traditional clothing and Georgian song performed by the ensemble Chveneburebi.

Georgian Shavparosnebi performed national fighting traditions at the Festival in 2014.

With Roman legionnaires, Georgian Shavparosnebi (Blackshields) will perform on stage at the festival named Natale di Roma on April 21.

It is worth to mention that according to Roman historians, Georgian female fighters fought together with men during Pompey’s invasion. This is why Shavparosnebi will also present female Georgian fighters at the festival.

After successful performance in 2012, Shavparosnebi was included permanent participant of the Natale di Roma.

The Natale di Roma festival is large-scale event and is dedicated to foundation of Rome. It has been annually celebrated in Italy for several decades.

Only countries with historical ties with the Roman Empire are invited to participate at the festival. After successful performance in 2012, Shavparosnebi was included into the list of permanent participants of the Natale di Roma.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection and Tbilisi City Hall.
