Georgia and Poland have signed an agreement regarding bilateral cooperation in 2015 between both countries’ Defence Ministries.
A representative from Georgia’s Ministry of Defence and Military Attaché of Poland Colonel Darius Pogorjelski signed the 2015 Cooperation Plan today, which envisaged providing consultations on military-technical, educational and police-related issues.
The meeting was held at Georgia’s Defence Ministry and attended by a Polish military delegation.
Before the agreement was signed, the Polish visitors met with representatives of the International Relations and Euro-Atlantic Integration Department of the Defence Ministry and discussed bilateral military cooperation.
Poland has been a member of NATO since 1999. Since 2002, for almost 12 years until the end of 2014 when the last troops were withdrawn, Poland participated as part of the coalition forces in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan.
It was the largest contingent in Polish history of military operations abroad.
Meanwhile Georgia was the largest non-NATO contributor to the NATO-led mission.
