A modern student dormitory will be constructed in Tbilisi as part of the local government’s plan to improve the living conditions of Georgian students.
The new facility will accommodate 320 people and will meet modern, international standards. It will be built on the slopes of Lisi Lake.
Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania laid the foundation for the construction today. He was accompanied at the site by acting director of Tbilisi Municipal Development Fund Ilia Darchiashvili, Deputy Minister of Regional Development Giorgi Amashukeli and Parliament Member Zurab Tkemaladze.
The project aimed to improve the living conditions of students who were socially vulnerable or from Georgia’s occupied territories.
The complex will consist of hotel-type apartments – some of which will be specifically fitted out to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
The project involves the construction of three residential buildings and one administrative centre. The complex will include a cafeteria, conference room, medical facility, library, computer room, laundry room an open playground and outdoor gym.
The construction is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2016. Total project is valued at 5.3 million GEL will be financed by the state budget.
