The President of France has opened an international agriculture exhibition which was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili together with other officials from around the world.
At the event Davitashvili met the head of the Union of France’s seed and plant reproductive materials producers. The sides discussed the possibility of implementing a modern system of seed and plant reproductive materials in Georgia, to which the French side expressed its interest in supporting Georgia achieve this.
French professionals also shared their country’s experience about creating an extension system.
While abroad Davitashvili also held meetings with leaders of French cooperatives union. The French side again expressed its readiness to help Georgia to develop cooperatives.
At the FranceAgriMer meeting, the sides discussed issues about determining an agricultural policy in Georgia, including the relationship between the private sector and the state.
The exhibition will continue until March 1, 2015.
