US Assistant Secretary of State to visit Georgia

A high-ranking US official is set to visit Georgia today and meet Georgian Government officials and opposition leaders.

United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will arrive in capital Tbilisi later this afternoon, announced Georgia’s Foreign Ministry.

Nuland is coming from Azerbaijan and will travel to Armenia after her Tbilisi visit. But while here, she will meet Georgian high officials, members of the opposition and representatives of civil society.

Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration will be discussed during her official meetings, as well as Georgia’s defence capabilities for protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Prospects of Georgia-US bilateral relations will also be a topic of discussion,” said the Foreign Ministry.

Last time Nuland visited Georgia was in 2013 when she discussed bilateral and regional issues and Georgia’s path toward European integration.
